Deep Tissue Massage for Tight Shoulders and Knots: Deep Tissue Therapy - 60 Min

A lot of people tell us they feel relief fast, and one recent 60-minute deep tissue visitor said that “within minutes, I felt completely relaxed and at ease.” If your shoulders stay tight, you’ve got knots that don’t budge, or your upper back feels stuck after workouts or long drives, Deep Tissue Therapy - 60 Min often helps when the problem is soft-tissue tension or posture-related strain. It’s best for you if you tolerate firm pressure and want focused work on one or two trouble spots. We’ll keep it honest and we’ll keep checking in, because deep work only works when your body can actually receive it.
Quick scope note: 60 minutes is ideal for concentrated work on 1 to 2 areas, like neck and shoulders, upper back between the shoulder blades, or lower back. Big, full-body chronic tightness usually takes more than one visit.
Why shoulder knots love to camp out in North Miami bodies
That tight band across your shoulders often starts as something simple, then it gets stubborn. Long time at a desk, looking down at a phone, gripping the steering wheel on the way to I-95, or carrying heavy bags can all cue the upper traps and the muscles between your shoulder blades to “brace.” Once that bracing becomes your normal, knots form, range of motion shrinks, and you might start feeling that pulling sensation up the neck or across the upper back.
North Miami’s tropical climate and active beachfront lifestyle can sneak into this too. More outdoor workouts, paddling, swimming, and long walks can leave the upper back and shoulders overworked, especially if you’re tight to begin with. And if you’re coming over from North Miami Beach, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, or Bal Harbour, the “quick drive” still adds up in your body.
We’re not diagnosing anything in a massage room. But we are very familiar with the pattern: the shoulder area feels hard, you can’t fully relax it on your own, and stretching only helps for a little while.
What we do in Deep Tissue Therapy - 60 Min (and why it works for knots)
Deep tissue massage therapy is about changing the texture of tight tissue, not just rubbing a sore spot. When you have knots, the muscle fibers and the fascia around them tend to feel dense and “stuck.” Our therapists use slow, specific pressure to encourage those layers to soften and slide again. That’s what usually gives you that “looser” feeling and helps you move your shoulders without that constant pull.
In a 60-minute deep tissue massage treatment, we don’t try to do everything. We pick a plan. Neck and shoulders plus upper back is a common one. Lower back and hips is another. We’ll check in often, because pressure that’s too intense makes your body guard, and guarding is the opposite of what we want.
Real-world proof we see a lot: people come in carrying shoulder tension and leave feeling “lighter, looser, and totally refreshed.” When your nervous system calms down, your muscles usually stop fighting the work.
A big reason deep deep tissue massage gets a bad reputation is because some sessions turn into a grind. That’s not our style. One reviewer put it perfectly: “Her technique is strong yet thoughtful.” That’s the sweet spot for deep tissue therapy. Strong enough to make a change, thoughtful enough that your body doesn’t clamp down.
“I carry so much tension in my shoulders and upper back, and she worked through every knot with real skill and dedication.”

Is Deep Tissue Therapy - 60 Min the right intensity for you?
This session is a great fit if you want focused work and you know you do better with firm pressure. People who work out a lot, sit a lot, drive a lot, or do repetitive shoulder movement tend to love this style. We also hear, again and again, that the pressure feels on point. One client summed it up as “perfect pressure, super thorough.”
You’ll probably love it if…
- Your knots are in the same spots every week, especially neck, shoulders, and upper back.
- You want deep work that’s still controlled, with regular check-ins on pressure.
- You're coming in to feel better in your body, not just “relax for an hour.”
We’ll steer you another direction if…
You have acute inflammation, open wounds, or certain medical conditions, or you just can’t tolerate firm pressure right now. Let us know what’s going on, and if it’s outside what we should work on, we’ll refer you to your physician or physical therapist.
If you’re not sure where you land, start with your goal. If your goal is stubborn shoulder knots and a better range of motion, deep tissue therapy tends to be the right lane.
Prep and aftercare for deep tissue: what makes results stick
If you want your deep tissue therapy to actually help your tight shoulders, a little prep goes a long way. Show up hydrated. Try not to come in right after a huge meal. And tell your therapist where you feel the discomfort, plus what activities seem to trigger it. We work better when we’re not guessing.
After deep work, some soreness for 24 to 48 hours is normal. Think “workout sore, ” not sharp pain. Keep drinking water, use heat if you feel stiff, and avoid heavy exercise for about 24 hours so your tissue can settle instead of flaring back up.
Pressure rule in our room
Deep tissue should feel intense, but it shouldn’t feel scary. If you can’t breathe normally, if you’re tensing up, or if you’re counting seconds until it’s over, it’s too much. Say so. We’ll adjust on the spot.
And if you’re trying to keep knots from returning, consistency matters. Some people do well every 2 to 4 weeks, especially if their tightness comes from regular training, commuting, or repetitive work. We’ll talk it through and pick a schedule that makes sense for your body and your budget.
